Louis-Félix and Marie-Soleil
Family portrait
Valleyfield (Montérégie)
Dad of Jules, 2 months old, and Charlotte, 2 and a half years old
It was Louis-Félix who wanted to participate in the filming of the videos and who took the necessary steps.
With simple words and powerful sentences, he explains his joy and pride in being the father of two breastfed children.
Marie-Soleil, his wife, is a breastfeeding support volunteer at Nourri-Source Montérégie.
We can see her in the videos, but she preferred to leave the podium to dad!
The overall experience
« It's going very well! My wife is a champion.
I take care of many tasks around the house so that my wife can breastfeed in peace.
I took my paternity leave when both my children were born. With my daughter, I spent a total of 12 weeks at home. I loved it. »
The choice to breastfeed
« My girlfriend told me she wanted to breastfeed, so I supported her.
It was very simple. I already knew it was the best thing for my babies. »
The early days of breastfeeding
« The first few days are crucial. I didn't know that.
Even though the sucking reflex is innate in a child, I didn't know that there was a learning curve for your baby to get off to a good start with breastfeeding. »
The father's role in breastfeeding
« A lot in support of the mom. It's very important.
All the tasks I can do, I do them: changing diapers, burping, taking the breast pump to my girlfriend, dressing the child, going for a walk with the stroller, etc. »
Developing a bond with her baby
« By spending time at home.
Being able to take care of my baby, doing all the chores a dad can do. »
Life as a couple while breastfeeding
« We told ourselves that we have to go out as a couple once a month.
We've stuck to it anyway for two and a half years now. »
